Reimagining Mineral Exploration: Digital, Sustainable & Responsible Solutions for Europe

DeepBEAT (Deep exploration BoostEd by Advanced exploration Technologies):
Developing a new exploration workflow to detect deep-seated critical raw material deposits using advanced geochemistry, AI-assisted 3D prospectivity modelling, and low-impact methods such as improved sampling, novel phyto-geochemical media, and UAV-supported biogeochemical sampling. It also emphasises early community engagement and socially responsible exploration to make mineral exploration more environmentally friendly, publicly acceptable, and supportive of Europe’s climate-neutral transition.

GoldenRAM (EO PLATFORM SUPPORTING CRITICAL RAW MATERIALS INDUSTRY IN EUROPE): Developing an AI-powered Earth Observation platform that integrates satellite data, geological information, and advanced analytics to support exploration, monitoring, and sustainable management of critical raw materials in Europe. The platform was tested in several European field trials to improve responsible mineral exploration and strengthen Europe’s secure supply of strategic raw materials.

DEXPLORE (Recognising European potential for hosting deep land primary CRM by combining new mineral models and advanced exploration and visualisation techniques):
Transforming mineral exploration in Europe by combining new geological models with advanced technologies such as UAV-assisted mineral detection, deep-land geophysics, and Earth observation to identify critical raw material deposits at depths of up to 600 m. The project will also develop a visualisation and data platform to improve collaboration, accelerate discovery of resources, and support Europe’s secure supply of critical raw materials for the energy transition.

GAIA-TSF (Geospatial Artificial Intelligence Analysis for Tailings Storage Facilities):
Developing a prototype system that uses geoscience, satellite Earth Observation data and machine learning algorithms to continuously monitor and analyse tailings storage facilities (TSFs) in the mining sector. The project aims to improve safety and environmental management by enabling multi-scale characterisation and early detection and prediction of potential risks and anomalies in mining waste storage sites.
