Appointed by the Government of Quebec's Council of Ministers in January 2022, Christine Duchesneau became the first woman to hold the position of President and CEO of the Institut national des mines du Québec (INMQ). She also serves as a member of the organization's Board of Directors. In her role, Mrs. Duchesneau leads initiatives aimed at modernizing Quebec's mining education offerings across vocational, college, and university levels.
Currently, she is overseeing significant projects for the mining sector, including studies on the implementation of control rooms in Quebec's mining industry and the development of competencies related to this major transformation. She is also coordinating work on the impact of processing critical and strategic minerals on mining education in Quebec, as well as on the recognition of prior learning and competencies for experienced industry workers.
Mrs. Duchesneau has played a key role in demystifying the mining sector by coordinating the campaign "Le secteur minier : un monde à explorer!" ("The Mining Sector: A World to Explore!"), which aims to attract talent to the mining industry. This campaign promotes the platform Québec.ca/formationminiere, an ambitious project that consolidates all of Quebec's mining education offerings in one online location.
With over 30 years of experience in the public sector, Mrs. Duchesneau holds a master's degree in organizational management, a master diploma in public administration, and a bachelor's degree in business administration. In 2015, she submitted a thesis on factors contributing to breaking the glass ceiling, addressing the career limitations faced by women.
