Originally from Montmagny, Maïté Blanchette Vézina studied public communications and law at Université Laval. She passed the bar in 2010 and practised business law until 2022. In 2017, she became mayor of Sainte-Luce while continuing to practice business law. Her leadership enabled her to build strong relationships with stakeholders from different backgrounds and move numerous initiatives forward.

In 2021, Ms. Blanchette Vézina held the position of regional manager of Centraide (United Way) for the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. During that term, she played an important role in her community's economic and social development. Elected in 2022 as a member for Rimouski, she was then appointed Minister of Natural Resources and Forests and Minister Responsible for the Bas-Saint-Laurent region and the Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine region.

Proactive from the beginning, she undertook a major review of the Mining Act, passed in the fall of 2024, and committed to changing the forestry regime in 2025. At the core of numerous challenges, including energy transition, securing critical and strategic mineral supply chains, and being acutely aware of regional issues, she works on multiple fronts with heart and resolve.
